"Formulas of Innovation" - the digital implementation of the Hall of Fame 2020.

Immersive experience

For many years, the Hall of Fame has been honoring researchers who have made Germany a future-oriented location for science and business through their life's work. Since 2015, Jazzunique has been responsible for the conception and execution of the Hall of Fame. Each year, the award ceremony takes place in a setting that focuses on the scientists and their research fields, offering guests a particularly immersive experience. This year, the German Research Hall of Fame took place entirely virtually for the first time. Under the theme "Formulas of Innovation," discussions were held on the topic of how scientists become innovative and what environment helps them in this process. One highlight of the event was the induction of one of the Nobel Laureates in Chemistry 2020, Emmanuelle Charpentier, into the Hall of Fame.

Interactive digital concept

This year, we faced a unique challenge: due to the current Covid-19 situation, the originally planned hybrid event concept had to be entirely reimagined as a digital experience. Human safety is always at the forefront of our experiences, and this holds true even more so in the current circumstances. Enhanced safety and hygiene measures are of utmost importance to us, as well as to our hosts, Merck and manager magazin. To address this, we created a fully virtual space that connected the various participants of the evening from different cities in Germany. CEO Stefan Oschmann and the evening's moderator were located in Darmstadt, while the speakers were connected live from Hamburg, Berlin, and Munich.

Content hub & accompanying communication

In a Content Hub developed by us, central information about the event was collected, award winners were introduced, and interactive features such as chat and similar tools were provided. This allowed participants to access information, engage in discussions, and follow the live stream at any time. The live stream was also made available for later viewing.

In addition to the concept for the actual award ceremony, an interactive exchange with the two Curious Mind awardees was developed: the "Innovation Talks" took place on the day following the Hall of Fame and were directly related to the theme of "Formulas of Innovation".

Furthermore, we were fully responsible for the communication campaign of this year's Hall of Fame. From designing graphical elements and participant management to content development for social media, we accompanied the event with communication and design from conception to implementation. As a result, the Hall of Fame created an interactive and sustainable experience this year.
